Menstruation ReWritten
Too late to be asking dumb questions
Show Notes

Kaela and I discuss going through menarche later than your friends, her attempts to get on the same team as her body and learning how to support friends through hard times. We have lots of laugh at our own expense, which we hope you will enjoy.

This episode is menstruation/period focused, but this conversation was recorded 2 days before Kaela had her first child. I checked in 6-weeks post delivery too and content concerning labor/delivery and post-partum recovery will be published in a BONUS episode on the new moon this month. Subscribes so you don't miss it!

Trigger warning: We discuss pregnancy loss, both miscarriage and stillbirth. These stories are not our own, but are from folks in our circles and touch on our own responses to this information.

Topics Discussed:

  • Menarche at 16
  • Tampons turned pool floats
  • Catholic, all girls high school puberty education
  • Passing out at the gynecologist
  • The joy of not having a period while pregnant
  • Pregnancy loss
  • Growing in our attempts to support friends through hard times
  • Tracking your period to track your pregnancy
  • Preferred menstrual products and post-partum diapers
  • The fact that we still don't know a lot about our own bodies

A note that Diva Cup has changed their sizing and descriptions since when I bought my first one. They now have size for three age ranges: < 19, 19-30 and 30+. The website states this is based on changes in peoples pelvic floor muscles over time.
